Edward F. Murphy is one of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s leading land use lawyers. For over 30 years, Mr. Murphy has represented commercial and residential developers before municipalities in Bucks County, Montgomery County, and the Lehigh Valley, as well as before local and state wide courts. He has substantial experience in assisting developers and property owners with every type and density of residential development as well as hospitals, medical office buildings, retail centers, and Transportation Oriented Development (TOD) projects.
Mr. Murphy’s knowledge of land use law, development trends, and local policies, combined with his relationships with government officials, has made him a trusted advisor to numerous builders and developers throughout the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area. He has a tremendously loyal following of developer clients who, for decades, have sought out his help to ensure that both complex and simple projects are done expeditiously and done right.
A member of the Pennsylvania and Bucks County Bar Associations, Mr. Murphy was admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 1977. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. 1974), and received his law degree from Villanova University. Mr. Murphy is a life-long resident of Bucks County.
Representative Matters
Mr. Murphy has represented a number of local, regional, and national home builders to obtain rezonings and approvals for virtually every type and density of residential development. He has also successfully supervised obtaining all of the approvals necessary to permit the development of:
- A coordinated 400-unit Transportation Oriented Development of market rate apartments;
- The largest residential subdivision built to date in Bucks County;
- The largest automotive service facility on the East Coast;
- A mixed use commercial/industrial project in excess of one million square feet;
- New medical facilities spanning 400,000 square feet, including a 60-bed patient rehabilitation facility, hospice, and 2 medical office buildings;
- Multiple new car dealerships throughout Bucks County including a number of dealership expansion projects.
